"We are just but creatures of eternity trapped into the envelope of time on earth. Thank God you fought victoriously out of this envelope and now you're with God in heaven, Mom. Both the sting of death and the power of the grave are all swallowed up in victory!" For my mother did not die, but peacefully went to be with the Lord. Just exactly at 7 p.m., after playing with her grandchildren, Mummy Eunice Nwogu, though absent from us now, is with the Lord, in eternal rest, having lived a life dedicated to service, faith, and love.
A Life Rooted in Faith and Devotion
Mummy Eunice was born on July 11, 1952, as the first daughter of Chief and Lolo Ndukwu from Umueze, Ehime Mbano, Imo State. She attended Central School and Akabo Girls' School, and later trained in Lagos in catering and baking. Her path led her to meet my father, the late Venerable Dr. Obidike Christ Nwogu, and together they raised a family founded on Christian values. Her life was shaped by Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding."

A Life of Service to the Church
Mummy Eunice was a devoted servant of God. She taught in the Anglican Children’s Ministry (ACM), coordinated the Girls’ Guild, and served in the Women’s Guild, Mother’s Union, and Archdeaconry Women’s Ministry. Her tireless dedication was reflected in her role as People’s Warden and her long-standing commitment to the Parochial Church Council (PCC). She also helped pioneer EFAC (Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion). Her actions reflected the spirit of Colossians 3:23: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."

A Loving Wife and Mother
Mummy Eunice was a loving and selfless mother who raised us with unwavering faith. She showed us how to love God fully and serve others with joy. Her marriage to my father was built on trust and spiritual partnership. Together, they built a family that honored God, as seen in Proverbs 22:6: "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."

A Quiet, Loving Presence
The final day of Mummy Eunice’s life reflected her loving and nurturing heart. She spent it playing with her grandchildren, before resting briefly. It was in that peaceful moment that she passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and service. As it is written in 2 Timothy 4:7-8: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Grief and Hope
While we mourn the loss of our beloved mother, we hold onto the hope that she is now with her Savior. Mummy Eunice’s life was an example of the joy that comes from serving God. We find comfort in the promise of eternal life as described in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14: "We do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death... For we believe that Jesus died and rose again."

Rest in Peace, Mama
Mummy Eunice, your journey on earth has ended, but your love and your legacy will remain in our hearts. I will continue to honor your memory by living the lessons you taught me. Until we meet again in heaven, I carry you in my heart, knowing you are now with the Lord you loved so deeply. Rest well in the eternal joy of the Lord.
