"Oh Death, Where Is Your Sting? Oh Grave, Where Is Your Power?
They are all swallowed up in victory! For my mom did not die, but slept, singing praises to the Lord. Just exactly at 5 a.m. this morning, she began to sing, and finally, she told me that she could see two angels holding her white, spotless garment before she departed with them. Mama Rebecca Oji is gone, but she is not lost. She is now with her Savior, her journey of faith complete, in the peace and joy of heaven.

A Life of Service, Faith, and Accomplishments
Mama Rebecca Oji, born on July 11, 1952, was the first daughter and first child of Chief and Lolo Ndukwu of Umueze 1 in Ehime Mbano. Born into a wealthy family in Amukoko Orile Igamu, Lagos State, Nigeria, she was surrounded by love and opportunity from the very beginning. Her parents, both pillars of their community, provided her with a solid foundation, which allowed her to thrive academically and professionally.

Her educational journey was nothing short of extraordinary. As a young woman, she attended Queen’s College, Lagos, one of Nigeria’s most prestigious schools. She then went on to secure admission at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), but her academic pursuits did not stop there. Mama Rebecca’s thirst for knowledge led her to the renowned Oxford University in London, where she studied Business Law, further solidifying her place in the world of academia and law.

Returning to Nigeria in 1975 after the war, she met her beloved husband and began her distinguished career with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), where she worked for many years, eventually retiring as a Director and Business Analyst. Mama Rebecca was a trailblazer, excelling in a male-dominated field and leaving an indelible mark in the corporate world.

A Devoted Christian and Servant of the Church
But beyond her professional achievements, Mama Rebecca’s true legacy lies in her service to God. A committed member of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, she dedicated much of her life to the service of others. Her devotion to Christ was unwavering, and she served in various capacities throughout her life.

She was an ACM teacher, a beloved friend to the Anglican Youth Fellowship (AYF), and a member of both the Bible Band (BB) and the Girls’ Brigade (GB). Her dedication to the church was unmatched, and she served as a three-time People’s Warden, ensuring that the spiritual needs of the congregation were met.

In addition, Mama Rebecca was an active member of the Women’s Ministry in the Mother’s Union, and she served on the Parochial Church Council (PCC) for many years, contributing to the growth and development of the church community. She was also among the pioneers of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC) in the various churches where she worshipped. Her deep faith, servant heart, and unwavering commitment to the work of God touched the lives of many, and her influence will continue to be felt in the church for generations.

A Legacy of Love, Faith, and Sacrifice
Mama Rebecca was not just a mother to me, but a constant source of strength, wisdom, and love. She sacrificed so much for her family, and her unwavering faith in God was the cornerstone of our lives. She taught us the importance of living a life of integrity, compassion, and service. Her love for her children was boundless, and she gave everything to ensure we were equipped to succeed in life, both spiritually and academically. Her legacy lives on in each of us.

Her calm presence, deep wisdom, and quiet strength made her a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who knew her. She never sought the spotlight, yet her actions spoke volumes, and she was a guiding light to all who came into her life. Her love for God was evident in the way she lived, the way she loved others, and the way she served in the church and community.

Grieving and Trusting in Hope
While the grief of losing her feels overwhelming, I am comforted by the truth that she is now with the Lord. Her love and faithfulness to God will forever remain in my heart, and I find peace knowing she is now resting in eternal joy. Her life was a constant reminder of the hope of heaven, and we cling to that hope as we remember her.

A Legacy That Will Never Fade
Mama Rebecca’s legacy will continue to live on through each of us. Her love for Christ, her dedication to her family, and her selfless service will guide us for the rest of our lives. We will carry her memory forward by living with the same love, compassion, and unwavering faith that she demonstrated each day.

Rest in Peace, Mama
Mama, your journey on earth has ended, but your love will never fade. I will continue to honor your legacy by living out the lessons you taught me. Until we are reunited in heaven, I will carry you in my heart, knowing that you are now in the presence of the Lord you loved so deeply. Rest well in the eternal joy of the Lord.
