I still remember like yesterday…
In my younger days, I paid a visit to my archdeacon at night.
As I walked close to the entrance, what met my ears was shocking.
The youngest daughter, barely 17, was shouting — raining curses and insults on her father, the archdeacon himself (my priest).
Worse still… the mother was supporting her!
I stood, stunned. This was the family known in church for their pious smiles and holy appearances.
But now? It was like hell behind closed doors.
When I knocked, guess who opened the door?
That same daughter — all smiles like nothing happened.
The whole family put on their “church faces,” pretending peace.
Not long after, another day came…
A neighbour called me, concerned.
“My brother in the Lord and his wife are fighting,” he said.
I rushed there.
As I stood by the door, what I heard was chaos — shouting, insults, near blows.
I knocked.
Suddenly… the quarrelling stopped, and I heard praying in tongues!
By the time they opened the door, they were “deep in the spirit.”
I smiled in my spirit but urged them “Continue your prayers… I’ll visit again in the evening.”
Many Christian Homes Are Hurting in Silence
Behind the pulpit smiles… many marriages are in crisis.
Behind church greetings… many homes are war zones.
Many Christian families are living two lives — one for church, one for home.
“For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7
We have perfected outward holiness but forgotten inward godliness.
God's Design Is Clear — No Double Life
There is a kingdom standard for every Christian home.
“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” — Psalm 127:1
God is not interested in the loud prayers that come after secret bitterness.
He doesn’t endorse tongues that follow tongues-lashing at home.
He doesn’t honour the pulpit when the partner is dishonoured in the living room.
Let’s Be Honest:
✅ True Christianity is shown in the home before the church.
✅ Your family is your first ministry, not your stage performance.
✅ God sees the hidden battles you package in public.
“Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.” — Proverbs 15:17
If peace doesn’t reign in your home, you’re only putting on a show before men — not before God.
A Charge to All of Us:
✅ Drop the fake smiles.
✅ Fix your home before fixing others.
✅ Lead with humility, speak with kindness, live with sincerity.
“He that rules his own house well… will gain great respect.” — 1 Timothy 3:4
Dear Christian, remember:
There is no reward in heaven for impressing people…
…but there is reward for building a home after God’s heart.
If this message speaks to you, don’t just say “Amen” — make a change.
Let’s raise homes that are peaceful in private, not just polished in public.
Homes where Christ is the foundation, not just a decoration.
